Selena the Cheetah

Selena was from a project I did in Fall 2017 for a Modeling class at CU Denver's animation program. The goal of the project was to take an animal and provide mechanical components to the design. But it was more than slapping gears into the model, we had to create it to be a functional model that can move if animated. By taking research on this speedy feline of how it runs and moves within the African Savannah, I took note of how the cheetah's body expands and compresses while running and having the head locked on without any signs of movement to the design. I looked into mechanical components of aircraft, locomotive, and automobile engine parts to construct her chest, legs, and spine.
